XO Marshmallow
XO Marshmallow started in 2015, when Kat Connor had an idea for gourmet flavored marshmallows and teamed up with Lindzi Shanks, each putting in $100 to get started. They opened their online shop in March 2016 and, the following year, the first marshmallow cafe in Chicago. Everything is still handcrafted in small batches in their own kitchen, which is entirely gluten-free and peanut-free, so the marshmallows, the graham crackers and the s'mores kits all come from the same safe space.
Our Take
We love a marshmallow that tastes like someone actually made it, and XO's are soft and squishy in a way the bagged kind never quite manages. The whole kitchen is dedicated gluten free, which means the graham crackers and the cookie pieces are too, so a real s'more is back on the table. Yes. All of our marshmallows are 100% gluten-free, and our production facility is completely gluten-free, as is our Chicago cafe. No gluten-containing products are permitted in our kitchen at all.
No peanuts or gluten-containing products are permitted in our kitchen. We use separate bowls, utensils and tools during production, dedicated trays for cutting, and we thoroughly wash and sanitize equipment and surfaces between batches. We are not an allergen-free facility, though, and we cannot guarantee that our products are free from all allergens, so please review the ingredients on each item.
Our classic marshmallows are made with certified kosher beef gelatin, so they are not vegetarian or vegan. Our OMG spreadable marshmallow creme is vegetarian, but it does contain egg whites. If you need a plant-based option, we make Vegan Vanilla and Vegan Chocolate Lovers marshmallows.
Everything is handmade in small batches, so please allow 3 to 5 business days for us to make your order and 2 to 3 business days for shipping after that. Around holidays and busy stretches it can take 7 to 10 business days. Orders ship Monday through Friday.
Sticky marshmallows in the heat are completely normal and nothing is wrong with them. We ship with ice packs and insulated bubble wrap through the summer and the warmer months so they arrive fluffy.
